Merry Christmas To All!

Merry Christmas To All!

A very Merry Christmas to all our readers!

As I sit here and write this quick post during a brief moment of peace and quiet tucked away from my family on Christmas Eve night, I can’t help but realize how lucky I am. I get to celebrate this holiday with four generations of my family – my grandmother, my folks, my wife and I, and our two kids are all under the same roof tonight. Tomorrow, my sister, brother-in-law and their two boys as well as numerous members of our extended family will be joining us to celebrate. It truly is a magical time.

Whether you adhere to the religious parts of this holiday or simply indulge in the more non-religious (secular?) version of it, please take a moment to sit back and take in the moment. Enjoy the time you are spending with your relatives – even the annoying one who asks too many questions or the one who’s political views differ so much from yours that you fear the dinner table like a visit to the proctologist.

Enjoy them all. Embrace them all. Learn to love the difference and realize that you are lucky to be surrounded by those who love you. I know that I will often fear the holidays because my family (both blood and the one I married into) can be crazy, wild, rambunctious folks who can drive up a person’s blood pressure just by being in the same room with them. But, they are my family. And for all their crazy, loud, outragous acts I love them all! These are the people who are there for us no matter what and will love us unconditionally. They are my family and I love them unconditionally back.

On a side note, my deepest thanks and appreciation go out to those men and women in the armed services who are away from their families serving overseas to protect our way of life. Without these people, a guy like me wouldn’t have the right to yap about whatever I want. We appreciate all that you guys and gals do – stay safe and come home soon!

OK, I’m being beckoned back to the living room – time to spike the eggnog and take in the love and craziness that is the holidays with the BDR Family!

Merry Christmas to all!
