It has been a great year for us here at Big Dan’s Ramblings. I started publishing posts in May of this year and have seen a fairly steady increase of hits every week. The posts ranged everywhere from recipes to product reviews to a stretch where we were updating almost daily on Red Sox news. Over this time, I have slowly started to find my voice and figure out where I want to take this blog. It is still a work in progress, but we’re getting there.
Next year, I am committing myself to posting at least one unique post every week in addition to a weekly wrap-up post. The goal is to build a regular readership here that will grow into a fairly regular blog.
As a unique kind of review, here’s a list of the top five BDR posts from 2011 based upon the number of views each one received.
1. My (Realistic) Perfect Man Day
This article was based off an article over at BroBible.com and outlined how I would spend a realistic perfect day. I even broke it out between summer and winter.
2. Homemade Sauce and Ricotta Meatballs
Probably my favorite recipe of all time. I outlined how I used fresh roma tomatoes that I grew in my garden to make a beautifully tasty tomato sauce. I also outlined how to make some great meatballs.
3. Open Letter to Jack Wilson, President of the University of Massachusetts
After reading an article in the Boston Globe about UConn’s success with their FBS football team, I felt the need to write the President of UMass urging him to grow the sports programs at my alma mater, especially the mens’ basketball and football teams.
4. UMass Football – Moving On Up?
This article was a follow-on to the above article. It talked about how I felt the MAC was not the right place for UMass football to land if they jumped up to FBS football. I received a lot of interesting feedback and responses to this post. Expect an additional follow-on in the new year.
5. How To Make Hamburgers – BDR Style
Labor Day means barbeques and barbeques undoubtedly means hamburgers. I shared an easy but tasty hamburger recipe with BDR readers that garnished a lot of hits. I hope everyone enjoyed!
Well, there you have them, the top five posts from BDR in 2011. I hope you all enjoy them and look forward to reading more in 2011.
Happy New Years to our faithful readership and stay safe however you are celebrating tonight!
