I know you’re all interested in that last part, but we’ll get to it in a minute.
About a month ago, I wrote about how I wanted to post 2-3 quality posts per week. And, for about a week or so, I did great on that goal. Then life hit. Work has gotten stressful. I’m closing in on the end of a very important project. I’ve been pulling 11-12 hour days a few times a week. At the end of this month, I’ll be travelling out to the Southwest for roughly a week. It should be the ultimate, successful conclusion of a lot of hard work.
Add all that to the daily life of a married guy with twin one-year old girls and a working wife and you’ve got some stressful times. I’ll be spending a lot of time with the in-laws over the next week.
My sister-in-law is getting married this weekend and then the Jewish holidays are the next weekend. Being the good husband that I am (nothing wrong with a little self-promotion here 😉 ), I’ll be spending all this time with the family. That should actually be pretty fun. The family I married into is really a good group of people – crazy at times, but the same can be said about my immediate family. I’m sure it should help me come up with a few post ideas.
OK, now on to the good stuff – thoughts about pimping my kids. Here’s what I’m talking about:
My company is in a shutdown this week. Despite this fact, I am working due to the project I mentioned above. However, child care schedule woes (everyone is busy) caused me to take Wednesday and Thursday off to take care of the girls. I love spending time with my girls, but I am not made to be a Mr. Mom. That being said, I need to find stuff to do with them.
So, yesterday, I took them out to run some errands. I didn’t think much of it until I realized that every cute girl I saw (and even some of the not-so-cute ones) were smiling and ‘awwwing’ at me.
Apparently the sight of a guy pushing around a stroller with twin girls in it is some kind of aphrodisiac. That’s where the thoughts of pimping them out came to me.
Now, the term ‘pimping’ sounds bad. It has all kinds of sexual connotations that I don’t want anywhere near my girls. But, here’s where I was going:
What if I let my single friends take the girls for an afternoon? They’d get to walk around and have an immediate conversation starter. And, honestly, how well would the conversation go if they were explain they were just babysitting for a friend and they did it all the time?
Come on – it’s better than a puppy!
I know, I probably sound like a horrible Dad, but, really, who hasn’t thought about this type of thing? And, for anyone who thinks I’m serious, thanks for reading…please don’t come back if you can’t sense sarcasm at its best!
Love it! I’m obviously not single, but as of Sept 10 I will be unemployed again, sooo if you want to pay me to babysit your girls I’ll be more than happy to do so!
